India bolsters support for Palestine with 30 tons of medical aid |
The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, shared the news on social media platform X, stating, “India’s support to the people of Palestine continues.” This recent shipment is part of an ongoing effort, following an earlier dispatch of medicine and food supplies sent via the UNRWA last week. The previous consignment also included surgical and dental products, as well as high-energy biscuits, offering relief amidst worsening conditions in Gaza.
India’s aid to Gaza aligns with its long-held stance in favor of a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. In addition, India contributed $2.5 million to UNRWA for Palestinian refugee support in 2024–25. The ongoing crisis has highlighted the need for urgent humanitarian assistance as UN agencies report deteriorating living conditions in Gaza, with severe waste accumulation and leaking sewage posing health risks.
This aid arrives amid recent Israeli legislative action banning UNRWA, significantly limiting its operations in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. As hostilities continue, India’s humanitarian support emphasizes its role in aiding those affected by the conflict.
